GDC Ramnagar concludes 7-day NSS Special Winter Camp | | | Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, Jan 27: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramnagar successfully concluded its 7-day NSS Special Winter Camp, which ran from January 20 to January 26, 2025. The camp was held in the adopted village of Thaplal, aiming to foster social responsibility, skill development, and community service under the leadership of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal of the college. The camp began with an inaugural session led by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, NSS Program Officer, and an orientation program by Dr. Pankaj Sharma and Prof. Manmohan Singh, focusing on youth responsibilities in nation-building. This was followed by a mega cleanliness drive in the village, emphasizing hygiene and environmental conservation. On Day 2, a lecture introduced volunteers to soil sampling techniques, followed by a documentary screening. Volunteers collected soil samples for analysis. Day 3 featured demonstrations on soil testing, with volunteers analyzing samples for nutrient content and preparing soil health cards for local farmers. Day 4 saw a poster-making competition at Government Middle School, Thaplal, on the theme "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao," alongside a talent showcase with songs and dances. Participants were awarded mementos, certificates, and refreshments. A Nukkad Natak titled "Tax Empowers Nation: Stop Tax Evasion" was performed on Day 5 to raise awareness about the importance of taxes in nation-building. Villagers appreciated the creative approach to this important topic. On Day 6, an awareness camp was conducted on preliminary health care tips, with volunteers educating the community through posters and slogans about basic health practices and preventive care. The camp concluded on Day 7 with a valedictory function, featuring cultural performances by NSS volunteers. The themes focused on patriotism, national unsung heroes, and the dedication of the armed forces. The Best Volunteer Award was presented to ………, in recognition of outstanding contributions. Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal of GDC Ramnagar, commended the NSS unit for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing the camp's positive impact on both the students and the local community. The camp empowered students with valuable skills and fostered a spirit of collaboration and mutual growth in the community. |
