Low voter turnout in urban areas worries BJP leaders | | |

Jammu, Apr 28: Although BJP is confident of retaining both the Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, party leaders are worried over low turn-out in urban assembly constituencies of Jammu district.
After 2014, the BJP has expanded its footprints in rural areas of Jammu province but urban areas are still citadels of the Saffron Party.
While the newly carved Shri Mata Vaishno Devi assembly constituency recorded the highest 79.04 percent polling, the urban assembly segment Bahu, which was crafted after the delimitation, recorded the lowest 62.34 percent polling.
Comprising Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat, and other posh localities Bahu Assembly segment is considered a stronghold of the BJP, and the lowest voting in this segment is a matter of concern for the party.
Jammu East, which has been a citadel of the BJP since the days of Praja Parishad and Jan Sangh, recorded 65.98 percent polling. Similarly, the newly carved out Jammu North Assembly segment recorded 67.38 percent polling.

Srinagar, Apr 28: Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Sunday rescued dozens of passengers whose vehicles got stuck in snowfall on Bandipora-Gurez Road in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here.
The BRO personnel swung into action as soon as they got the information about 35 vehicles that had been stuck on storm-hit Razdan Pass, the officials said.

Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairma of University Grants Commission (UGC) took to his official X handle and tweeted, “The National Testing Agency is likely to announce the City of Examination information for CUET-UG by 5th May or earlier.
