SRINAGAR, Apr 6: A 10-year-old student died and six others sustained injuries in a fire incident at Tral in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday, officials said.
The fire broke out in Hamdan Daarul Uloom at Tral in which one boy — Yasir Ahmad Gaggi — died due to asphyxiation while six others were injured, they said.
The officials said the injured persons have been referred to a hospital here for treatment of their burn injuries, adding the blaze was doused by fire and emergency services personnel.

JAMMU, Apr 6: A soldier allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at an Army camp in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.
Sepoy Vijay Kumar, posted with 26 Rashtriya Rifles, was on sentry duty when he shot himself at Dharmund military hospital at 3.40 am, the officials said.
The reason behind his extreme step was not known immediately. The body has been shifted to Ramban district hospital for post-mortem, they said.

A team of researchers on Sunday showed that young females are more likely to experience higher social anxiety due to excessive smartphone use than other genders.
The study, presented at the ‘European Psychiatric Association Congress 2025’ in Madrid, Spain, revealed that gender plays a significant role in excessive and problematic (psychological or behavioural dependence)1 smartphone use, with young females more likely to experience higher social anxiety than other genders.
