Training programme on organic farming | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JANUARY 18- Regional centre of Organic farming, Panchkula in collaboration with Horticulture department Jammu organized a training programme at horticulture complex, Talab Tillo Jammu. Director Horticulture Jammu A. K. Sharma in his inaugural address informed that 200 Ha area shall be adopted for organic farming in Jammu division with an incentive of Rs 10,000/- per hectare spread over a period of three years and a maximum of four hectares shall be allowed per beneficiary and 150 Ha shall be covered for certification wherein an amount of Rs 5 lakh will be expended in three years for a cluster of 50 hectares. S. R. Ingle, scientific officer from Regional Centre of organic farming, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India was the resource person and participating officers were trained for implementation of organic farming in the region. S. R. Ingle informed the officers of Horticulture Department that PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) comprising of a group of minimum five farmers can participate where the group shall be authorized to declare his product identified as organic ,certified under conversion period as PGS India Green and after three years as PGS India Organic whereas under third party certification, the product will be declared organic after consecutive third year from implementation. He impressed upon the field functionaries to disseminate this new technology to the farmers. As many as 40 officers attended this training programme and interacted with the resource persons to equip themselves with this technology. |
