CPI (M) demands reducation in passengers fare | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18 : Jammu regional committee of CPI (M) demands reduction in passengers fare and freight as the prices of petrol and diesel are falling in the international market on Sunday. According to press release, Regional secretary of CPI Sham Prasad Kesar stated that on every price increase, the transporters demanded hike in fares but now the government authorities are mum on the issue while the commuters are being fleeced by the transporters. The common man on the road should get full benefit from falling crude prices. The authorities should immediately issue new rate list for the fares. "Not only that the prices of essential commodities should come down as the transport for the import and export has become cheaper," he added. He said that decrease in petrol and diesel prices is a 'sham' since it is not commensurate with the 55% reduction in global crude prices. He also pointed out that the centre has for the fourth time since November hiked excise duties on petrol and diesel which will bring revenue of Rs 20,000 crore. "Thus instead of the people of India benefitting from the 55 per cent decrease in the global price of crude oil since June 2014, the government is exploiting the situation to fill its own coffers," CPI (M) demanded that the full benefit of the fall in global crude prices be passed on to the people. |
