Com/Secy Social Welfare Deptt inaugurates disaster preparedness training

jammu, Feb 4: Commissioner/Secretary to Government Social Welfare Department J&K, Sanjeev Verma inaugurated two days Disaster Preparedness training for officers and staff of various Advisory Boards, under the administrative control of Social Welfare Department.
The training has been organised by J&K State Social Welfare Board in collaboration with 'Civil Defence', 'Doctors for You' and 'Bharti Airtel' at Pragati Bhawan, Rail Head Complex, Jammu. More than 50 participants from Social Welfare Board, Pahari Board, OBC Board, Scheduled Caste Board, Kissan Board, State Women's Commission and Airtel staff participated in the training.
The inaugural function was attended amongst others by Secretary Social Welfare Board Aamir Ali, representatives from Doctors For You, Dr IPS Bali and Dr. Balram Jadhav, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu, Tejinder Kaur, Head CSR, Bharti Airtel Ms Anjali Kachru, Secretary Pahadi Speaking Board Shoukat Hussain Kazmi, Secretary SC Board Sham Lal, Secretary OBC Board Mohammed Tanvir, Secretary Women's Commission Mehraj Ahmed Rather.
Speaking on the occasion Commissioner Social Welfare Sanjeev Verma said that disaster preparedness training should be made mandatory for all sections of the society, particularly the staff of Social Welfare, as they are directly dealing with the weaker and vulnerable sections of the society.
He asked the Officers and employees of Social Welfare department and Boards to work with dedication, zeal and devotion. He directed that the welfare schemes of the department should be given adequate publicity in print and electronic media, so that the benefits of these schemes can be availed by those, who are most deserving. He stressed that Persons with Disabilities, who are most vulnerable in any disaster, should be identified and covered under benefits of welfare schemes to reduce their vulnerability.
