Distt Police conducts symposium on drug abuse | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, Feb 4: Under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), District Rajouri Police today conducted a symposium on the topic 'Abuse of Drugs in New Generation' at PG college Rajouri in collaboration with Cultural & Literary Committee PG College Rajouri. The competition under the supervision of DIG AK Attri and SSP Dr Haseeb Mughal was held in senior and junior categories. More than 25 students from various schools and colleges from all over the district participated in the symposium and expressed their views and highlighted the various abuses of the drugs in the society. 6 students from various colleges expressed their views in senior category while 19 students from various higher secondary school spoke on the topic in junior category. Alia Iqbal of HEM College, Rajouri bagged the first position while Iflak Ahmed Malik of government PG College Rajouri and Kushal Gupta of HEM College bagged 2nd & 3rd prizes respectively. In junior category, Sadeequi of DPS Rajouri, Mohd Sami of Panorama Public School Rajouri and Danish Sharma of International Higher Secondary School Rajouri bagged Ist, 2nd & 3rd prize respectively. The Jury members comprised of Prof. Javed Mughal, Prof Shamim Azad and Prof Shafia Saleem. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal was the chief guest while Dr JA Qazi, Principal PG College Rajouri was the guest of honour on the occasion. All the winners were given cash prize, trophies and certificates. Speaking on the occasion Dr SSP Haseeb Mughal said, "It is the duty of every citizen of this country to eradicate drug menace from the society to save the younger generation from its clutches'. He further said that the Rajouri police have already taken an initiative to keep away the youth from drug addiction by opening a Youth Club inside District Police Line (DPL). "Youth Club playing major role in involving the youth in sports & other activities so that they may not indulge in drug addiction and other anti-social activities and do not fall prey to the machinations of anti-social elements" said SSP. Prof Haqeeqat Singh and Prof Iqbal Raina also highlighted the adverse impact of drugs in young generation. |
