As exit polls predict BJP rout in Delhi, govt for mation in J&K may take some more time | | | Jehangir Rashid ET Report srinagar, Feb 7: With the majority of exit polls predicting rout of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Delhi elections the government formation in Jammu & Kashmir may take more time as the party leaders may take more time to come out of the 'shock' at the hands of Aam Admi Party (AAP). Over the days sources have been saying that BJP will start formal dialogue with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from February 8 for the government formation in Jammu & Kashmir. However, this may not happen since the election results have predicted that BJP would finish second after AAP in Delhi elections. "It may take some more days for the BJP leaders to come to talking terms with the PDP leaders over the government formation. The leaders would have to sit and analyze the election results of the Delhi assembly. As such the people of the state would have to wait for some more time before seeing the PDP-BJP government being formed," said sources. Pertinently elections for the 70 member Delhi assembly were held today with more than 67 percent people casting their vote. The exit polls carried out during the course of day predicted that AAP would get more than 40 seats with BJP coming second getting 25 seats. The Congress party is expected to win just couple of seats. Sources said that BJP was hoping to win the elections of Delhi assembly hands down, but since the same is not going to happen it is quite possible that formal dialogue with PDP over government formation would start any time after February 10. "Election results of the Delhi assembly may give some advantage to PDP with respect to the government formation in Jammu & Kashmir. The BJP would like to stitch an alliance with PDP as soon as possible in order to give some solace to its workers more so those belonging to the state," said sources. Sources said that since BJP has got a golden chance to form the next government in the state, its workers want the government to be formed at the earliest more so when more than one month has passed ever since the election results were announced in the state. In such a situation it is quite possible that PDP might call the shots with respect to its dialogue over government formation with BJP. "The defeat suffered by BJP on one of the seats in the Rajya Sabha from the state is also likely to come as a jolt to the party. PDP has won two seats in the Rajya Sabha elections and this too has added some advantage to the kitty of PDP. Once the Delhi assembly results are out then only the BJP would take some decision on dialogue with PDP for government formation in Jammu & Kashmir," said sources. Statement of PDP's Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that the party is in no hurry to form the government in the state might also force the BJP leaders to fasten their efforts in the government formation in the state. |
