| DDC inaugurates workshop on water management | | |
Reasi, Feb 25 : In collaboration with Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Central Water Commission (CWC, Jammu), Central Ground Water Board (CGWB Jammu) and National Development Foundation organised a one day workshop at Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner Office, Reasi, with the theme of Water Management for Sustainable Development and was inaugurated by the chief guest, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Sushma Chauhan. On the occasion, DDC also released a booklet on "India Water Week". Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the aim of the programme is to create awareness among the general public regarding conservation, preservation and judicious use of water. She further added that the demands are increasing every year for water while resources are becoming more and more limited. That is why it is important to seek out, find and start using all the innovative water conservation solutions and methods that are available today. She further said that such type of workshops play an important role in educating people about the importance and judicious use of water and requested Central Ground Water Board and Central Water Commission to take initiatives and develop ground water management and conservation plan for district Reasi, so that a long term strategy is in place.
Dr Narinder Batyal, Executive Director CCDU stressed that water conservation is very important for our future generation and also highlighted the importance of water hygiene and its advantages in present life. |
