Early Times Report Kupwara, Feb 25 : Residents of Kupwara are up in arms against the Power Development Department as they are facing unscheduled power cuts. Residents of the town and its outskirts while talking to media said that the department doesn't adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examination were facing hardships. "When PDD installed meters in our area we were told that we would get power supply round the clock, but their promises turned out to be a hoax," said a resident. The situation in un-metered and remote villages of Kupwara, Langate, Handwara, Kralpora, Trehgam, Hayhama and valley Lolab is no different. Many remote villages, including Badkoot, Rajpora, kalmoona, Hafrada, Rangward, Marseri, Shalal and Sudal, are facing acute power shortage. In Drugmulla, Vodhpora, Muhgalpora, power supplied from Arampora grid station is disrupted after every half an hour. "PDD resorts to continuous power cuts," locals said. Residents of Kupwara, Tikker, Hirri, Drugmulla, Trehgam and Kralpora complained that power plays hide and seek and during night hours the supply goes off for hours together.
