Soz to step down as PCC head | | | JAMMU, Feb 25: Prof Saif-ud-din, who is serving as Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president for the last eight years, wants to relinquish the post for which he has already conveyed to the party high command in New Delhi. Sources within Congress party informed Early Times that while rank and file of Congress want Saifuddin Soz to continue as PCC President but he is persisting on giving up the job entrusted to him by the party High Command. Sources further said that Soz has communicated to All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi regarding his decision to vacate the PCC presidentship. "Even though Prof Saifuddin Soz's efforts to promote Congress party in J&K State, especially, in Kashmir where under his stewardship the party managed to create a sizable vote bank in Kashmir but still he (Soz) wants to call it a day," sources said. "Soz's perception is that he is the longest serving PCC president in the country, having served in this position for eight years and now he should make room for somebody else," sources added. Soz has reportedly sounded the party high command and he is awaiting the response. At the moment, many a senior leaders have offered to make room for others so that the process for party's rejuvenation receives a desired momentum. |
