Allegations of irregularities in transportation of PDS ration | CAPD fails to complete probe | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 28 : In case of fraudulent withdrawal of 25 lac freight charges involving officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CA&PD), the Assistant Director CA&PD Kishtwar failed to complete his inquiry even after more than three weeks since Directorate CAPD Jammu vide letter No.DCAPD/J/Acctts/4342-44 dated 02-03-2015 directed Assistant Director Kishtwar to probe the charges wherein freight charges to the tune of Rs. 25 lacs had been withdrawn illegally for transportation of ration to private sale deports in Thakrie (Pakalan) areas in Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar District. In reply to a question of of MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Minister in charge CA&PD in its reply in the state LA stated that the inquiry report is still awaited from the inquiry officer, However, the concerned Assistant Director vide his letters No's ADCAPD/K/2014- 15/2784 dated:13-03-2015 and No.ADCAPD/K/2014-15/2435 dated 18-03-2015 intimated that Nek Ram Dealer Thakarie (Pakalan) has been paid carriage charges to the tune of Rs. 6,81,677 for the year 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15. It is pertinent to mention that CA&PD department responsible for distribution of ration to the people withdraws freight charges worth crores of rupees as majority of the areas are without road connectivity. In the past, several scandals surfaced in Kishtwar District, but no action was taken against the guilty persons as majority of such scandals took place with active involvement of the departmental officials. |
