Education Department ignores Dogri, Kashmiri subjects | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, Mar 29: Step motherly attitude of Education Department towards Dogri and Kashmiri subjects at elementary level has kept thousands of pupils of Jammu division away from learning their mother tongue as a subject. In the year 2002 Education department imparted training to dozens of teachers of Jammu division for teaching Dogri and Kashmiri at elementary level at the State Institute of Education Jammu. These teachers further converted into resource persons of same subjects and trained one teacher from every school of all districts of Jammu division. In the year 2003 state board of school education Jammu issued books of Kashmiri and Dogri subject for elementary level in Jammu province. All the ZEO offices issued the same books to the schools. But due to disinterest of teachers in teaching of these subjects at primary level no student of any district of the province gets any benefit from these trained teachers and free books. After introducing Dogri and Kashmiri languages at elementary level education department inducted these two subjects at middle level in the year 2003. Perviously Dogri and Kashmiri was introduced at elementary level but presently the kashmiri and Dogri is neither taught at elementary nor at secondary level says a lecture posted in DIET Banihal. |
