Budgam, Mar 29 : The incessant rainfall has caused heavy damages in central Kashmir's Budgam district. More than three dozen houses have been completely damaged in Charari Sharief tehsil of Budgam.
The most affected villages are Chalyan Choontonad , Tilsara , Jeddan , Kutabal , Neegu and few more adjoining villages.
As per details available with Early Times at least one dozen houses have been damaged in Chalyan Choonti Nad area which is a remotely located village of Charar I Sharief tehsil of Budgam. The residential houses started developing cracks few days ago as the area had witnessed huge rainfall and snowfall from the last few months. The district administration of Budgam led by Deputy Commissioner Mir Altaf Ahmad visited the village on Friday and shifted the villagers to other villages and block headquarters of Nagam.
While talking to Early Times Bilal Ahmad from Tilsara village of Charar I Sharief said that as many as half a dozen houses have been damaged in their village.
He added that hundreds of hectares of pear and apple orchards have also been damaged due to landslides during the past two days.He sought soft loans for the orchardists. Pertinently the Govt had announced to wave off KCC loans amounting to less than one lakh but farmers say that this won't help them as majority of them have taken more than Rs 1 lakh loan from banks under KCC scheme.
