Keerian people see irregularities in BPL list | | | Arun Trisal Kathua, Mar 28 : Residents of Keeriyan Gandiyal staged a protest demonstration against J& K government and criticized BPL list made in 2012 where Panchayat body preferred their blue eyed persons while preparing list of people falling under privileged section. They criticized the list that has been prepared to renovate houses under Indira Awas Yojna, IAY and sought fair list where names of deserving candidates especially of Scheduled community, Paramjeet, a maid and an orphan, failed to include her name in BPL list as surveyors did not visit their locality. She has four unmarried sisters who live in a single room with temporary roof, broken walls and half door. The room is also used as a Kitchen. The sisters get shelter in neighbors' houses in rainy season. They have no source of income and work as house maids but their names have not been included in BPL list and therefore, deprived of the benefits under IAY centre scheme for renovation of houses. Naresh Kumar, a SC person, accused a Sarpanch of dropping his name from BPL list as they belong to Scheduled caste and are always ignored by rural body. Karan Singh Sarpanch of the Panchayat Keerian denied all allegations and criticized the Teachers who conducted survey in 2012 under BPL scheme. He said those who deserved the most were left out. He informed that the matter was discussed with concerned authority but they assured to conduct fair survey in next time.Dozens of villagers staged protest demonstration outside the office of BDO Kathua few days ago. Anju Bala who condemned the working of Rural development Department said that officers should intervene. The protesters, later on, called on BDO Kathua and apprised him of the development. He pacified the protesters and assured to review the list. |
