Jammu, Apr 19: Organised by the Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmipuram Chinore, here, the
Udhampur and Reasi district Sport Climbing Championships shall be held on May three.
"About 200 climbers from various institutions of the two districts are likely to participate in the competition. However, in case, the number of participants exceeds 200 climbers, the competition may extend to the two days", informed organising secretary of the event, Shawetica Khajuria.
The competition, to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall at Sprawling Buds School, shall be held in six categories of men, women (born in 1998 and earlier), boys, girls (born in 1999, 2000 and 2001) and sub junior boys and girls (born in 2002, 2003 and after). Whereas men, women, boys and girls shall compete both in 'lead climbing' and 'speed climbing', those sub junior boys and girls shall participate in 'lead climbing' only.
Interested climbers have been advised to contact the organising secretary, Shawetica Khajuria on Mobile No. 99062-16637 or visit personally to the venue on any working day up to May one. On the spot registration shall also be done at Sprawling Buds School from 8 am to 9 am on May three.
Whereas a qualified national judge in sport climbing, Shawetica Khajuria shall also be the president of the jury of the competition, Shashi Kant and Aman Arora, both senior sport climbers, shall be the route setters.
These technical officials shall be supported by another technical team of the Association including Sonam Sidharth, Puneet Sharma and Hardev Singh. The championship has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. |
