Pak violates truce, High alert on IB | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 19: In a fresh incident of ceasefire violation along the International border Pakistan rangers targeted forward Indian posts in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on sunday evening. According to official sources Pak rangers targeted Indian posts with mortar shells after pushing in a group of infiltrators inside the Indian territory. However, alert Indian troops guarding the border reported the suspected movement of infiltrators and responded effectively to prevent infiltration bid. Indian troops also fired UBGL grenades along with the small arms fire in response to the unprovoked firng from across the border. The incident was reported along the Hiranagar border around 6.00 p.m, official sources said. Meanwhile, following the brief exchange of firing alert was sounded along the IB and all the naka points were beefed up to prevent any major infiltration bid under the cover of darkness. The suspected infiltrators had taken advantage of the wild growth of elephantine grass to come closer to the IB, official sources said. Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary forces have been alerted following the incident, official sources said. |
