NEW DELHI, Apr 19: As a part of the government's endeavour to improve governance by encouraging the IAS and allied services officers, outstanding civil servants will be presented PM's Award of Excellence at a ceremony at which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself be personally present. Disclosing this,Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, who also happens to be incharge of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances which is organizing the programme, said that the awards will be a part of the Civil Services Day event stretched over two days, beginning tomorrow. The day will be observed to commemorate the historic occasion when the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabha Bhai Patel had addressed the first batch of IAS officers soon after independence, he added. Dr. Jitendra Singh said, one of the highlights of the two-day academic deliberations will be the presentation on the newly introduced programme called "PRAGATI" by A.K Sharma, Joint Secretary, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, the two-day event will not only be an opportunity to receive guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be present for one of the main sessions, but will also offer an opportunity to introspect the evolution of Civil Services over the years and to deliberate on the challenging expectations from civil servants in the current scenario. Overall, the objective of the two-day academic deliberations would be to enable civil servants contribute better to the society and people for whom their services are meant, he added. |
