SDSJK accuses govt of neglecting dental field | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: Society of Dental Surgeons J&K (SDSJK) castigated the Government for neglecting the field of Dentistry in the state and showing a step-motherly behaviour towards it. The Government is showing immense laxity when it comes to enforce system of its own framed rules and regulations. It is pertinent to mention here that performing dental procedures viz. extraction, Scaling etc. without proper sterilization mechanism in Dental Sections has been one of the main cause of spread of Hepatitis - C or any blood borne disease. While dental procedures are generally safe, this reinforces the importance of adhering to strict infection control procedures in dental settings which is being seen lacking in various dental sectionsand in all the illegal dental clinics set up by quacks. SDSJK lashes the J&K State Dental Council (JKSDC) which was entrusted by the Govt. to enforce Dental Laws and Regulation in the state. The council since its inception has done nothing but just acquired posts to glorify themselves and have a post- retirement name. The Govt. framed JKSDC in 2001 with an aim to uplift the dental fraternity and implement dental policies so that illegal practices performed by quacks are stopped and quality oral health care is being provided to the patients by registered dental practitioners. On the contrary JKSDC in all these fourteen years have succumbed badly which has led to the mushrooming of illegal dental clinics and mal practices across the state. It is unfortunate that neither all the Dental Clinics are registered nor there is any gag on illegal dental clinics which has led to the drastic spread of life threatening diseases. |
