Canine scare in GMCH; authorities unconcerned | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: With administration of the Health and Medical Education Department making mountains out of mole hills, the vital issues directly affecting the patient care have been ignored. Presence of canines in dozens in the GMC hospital has not only exposed the tall claims of authorities, but also threatened the safety of the attendants, staff and the patients. "Stray dogs can be found roaming in the hospital premises all the time, spreading fear among the patients, their attendants and hospital workers", a patient . "Is it a hospital or a zoo" he said expressing anguish over the shabby state of affairs. "I have been visiting my relative admitted to the hospital for the past few days and each day I see several dogs roaming freely here. The dogs feed on the garbage dumped on the premises and chase the people and we are terribly scared to visit the hospital because of these dogs moving all around," an attendant said. A staffer present on the spot said workers tried to chase the dogs out of the premises on a few occasions, but the dogs return quickly due to the leftover food thrown all around the place by the patients and their attendants. Principal of GMC hospital Jammu Dr Ghanshyam Dev Gupta couldn't be contacted. |
