Nigerians who duped people in online trade held from Mumbai | Three other cases of snatching, drug trafficking worked out | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: With the arrest of eight accused, including four Nigerians, two snatchers, a thief and a narcotic smuggler, police today claimed to have worked four cases of online duping of people, snatching and drug trafficking. SSP, Jammu, Uttam Chand told media persons that police had worked out various crime related cases lodged with the police stations of Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat. On duping of people in the online trade, he said four Nigerians namely George Tobechukwo Ike (also known with the names of Donnie Alex, Mc Carthy Philips, Princie, Armain,Frank Uzor and Asamoah), Jacob, Ifeani Uzoechi and Grace Okalika were arrested from Mumbai. The accused were also wanted in Hydrabad and Punjab, the SSP said. He said that Gandhi Nagar police had registered a case when one Naveen Anand lodged a complaint alleging therein that he had been cheated online. The complainant booked imported SUV Land Rover on Quicker.com and for the purpose he transferred Rs 5 lakh for delivery of the car in return the complainant received fake custom receipts,British consulate authorization letter and car purchase agreement from Donnie Alex and Deepika Arora. Later, he realised that he had bee duped. During the course of investigation, police tracked phone calls details, bank details and based on cell Id locations of the phone numbers and other details, police and Navi Mumbai Crime unit searched the area and apprehended four Nigerians. From their possession, police recovered six phones,2 tablets,3 diaries,13 SIM cards, 2 memory cards and two passport of Nigeria. The SSP said that the crack down was made under the supervision of IGP Jammu Danish Rana. Apart from this, two snatchers involved in four snatching cases had also landed in police lock up. They were identified as Amerjit Singh alias Nitan s/o Piyar Singh of Balmiki Colony and Deepak Kumar alias Deepu s/o Nanak Dass of Trikuta Nagar. From their possession, police recovered a cash of Rs 5000, ATM card/Adhar Card, one I pad and two Nokia phones. Gandhi Nagar police led by incharge Nehru Market police post SI Khyatiman Khajuria arrested a thief namely Shah Nawaz Wani of Marmat Doda and recovered a stolen laptop from his possession. The laptop was property of one Swami Raj of Billawar which was stolen from his hostel room. Further, SOG team also apprehended a narcotic smuggler namely Amit Kumar alias Mittu son of Ashwani Kumar of New Bahu Fort and recovered 14,000 intoxicant capsules from his possession.The accused had brought the consignment from UP to deliver it to the Jammu youth. |
