| NMC urges PM to declare 'May Day' as Gazetted holiday | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri urged upon Prime Minister to declare 'May Day' as a Gazetted holiday throughout the country.
According to press release, in a memorandum sent to Narendra Modi, Shastri said that because of the May Day martyrs, the working class got their rights throughout the world and India being the largest and most vibrant democracy across the globe and frontline welfare State should also declare May 1 as gazette holiday adding that this will be a great gesture and will fulfill the most genuine and long pending demands of the working class.
He also urged Modi to immediate provide a special financial package of Rs. 2000 Crore to J&K government to meet expenditure on account of regularizations of the services of sixty one thousand daily rated workers in the State.
Enhancing monthly salaries of daily rated workers to rupee ten thousand, he demanded declare Jammu city as B-I City, including Jammu city in the list of 100 smart cities, and strictly implementing all central labor laws in Jammu & Kashmir were other demands mentioned in the memorandum. |
