Court denies bail to PDP leader's son in rape case | | | Jammu, Apr 25 : Fast Track Court Presiding Officer Y P Kotwal today rejected the bail application of Prem Singh, son of PDP leader Suram Singh of Jammu who was allegedly involved in rape with a girl who was married a day before of the crime. According to police case, the victim's father lodged a written complaint with Kanhachak police, alleging therein that on January 25, 2015, marriage of his daughter was solemnized and on the next day when she left from her parental home after performing ritual called "phera" to matrimonial home at Akhnoor, she was kidnapped in midway. On this, police registered a case under section 366 of RPC and during the course of investigation, the victim was recovered from the Prem Singh's possession and after recording her statement, section 376 of RPC was added. Kotwal, after hearing the two sides, observed that APP, in his objection, had submitted that Prem's father Suram Singh, uncle Ashok Singh and sarpanch Dalbir Singh had assisted him in abductionand rape of the victim by moving her from one place to another. They also threatened her that they would kill her family members if she deposed anything against them. He observed that in the present case, the accused with the help of other co-accused had abducted the victim when she along with her husband was going to her matrimonial home and after her abduction, the accused had ravished her and more the charges are yet to be framed and witnesses are yet to be recorded and if the accused is admitted to bail, there was every possibility of the accused to jump over bail and hamper with the prosecution witnesses. With these observations, the court rejected his bail application.(JNF) |
