| Director Horticulture tours Akhnoor, Khour | | | JAMMU, May 5 : Director Horticulture Jammu, A.K. Sharma conducted an extensive tour of Akhnoor and Khour Blocks and inspected Government Fruit Plant Nurseries at Gandharwa (Akhnoor), Garhi Bishnah (Jourian) and Palanwalla (Khour).
He directed Horticulture Development Officers to frame DPRs for strengthening of nurseries to fully utilize their potential. He emphasized to develop mother blocks of high yielding varieties of fruit crops for their multiplication as a source of bud wood bank as per potential and suitability of the respective areas.
In view of the ensuing plantation season, the officers and field functionaries were directed to prepare project reports for action plan of normal as well as high density plantation on cluster basis. They were specifically instructed to incorporate INM/IPM practices along with water conservation techniques by way of drip and sprinkler irrigation systems in the project reports. He further stressed to organize awareness camps on regular basis at Panchayat levels to generate awareness among masses about the schemes and incentives offered by the department.
Director Horticulture had a detailed discussion with MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma and MLA Khour Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat, regarding the framing and taking up of the departmental activities for future course of action. He sought their cooperation in benefitting the genuine fruit growers of their area. The Director Horticulture was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu along with senior officers of the department. |
