Govt adopting callous approach towards rain affected farmers: Manohar | | | Jammu, May 5: Alleging state government adopting callous approach towards the rain and hail storm affected farming community, former minister and general secretary JKPCC, Dr Manohar lal Sharma today said that non seriousness approach of both central as well as state government towards the aggrieved farmers who already suffered a lot due to the burden of debt now are facing more miseries due to delay in compensation. During his visit to different villages including Dhamal, Ladoli and tandiari of Hiranagar, Kadarnu, Kuhnu, Dhan and Dharalta Slari of Ramkot and Billawer tehsils in Kathua district, the former minister Dr Sharma interacted with the various affected farmers whose crops have been destroyed due to heavy rains and hailstorms and listened to their problems."Even the administration as well as government agencies such as revenue and agriculture department, have failed to assess the loss till date while harvesting of crops is on full swing and after harvesting completed it will be very impossible to assess the actual loss, he said.In a formal meeting with farmers, Panchs and Sarpanchs, Dr Sharma observed that farmers show anger over the casual approach of the government towards their genuine demands and they feel deceived by the present dispensation.Dr Sharma has urged state government to take this issue with the government of India seriously so that adequate compensation may given to the farmers well in time before the sowing of next crop. |
