Tension grips Khour, 2 cops injured | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Tension gripped Khour here on Tuesday when some persons from a particular community allegedly attacked a police party which had gone to arrest an accused wanted in a theft case. Two policemen were injured in the attack following which police registered a case under section 307 RPC against the miscreants. According to police sources, the incident took place when a police party from Police Station Akhnoor after a specific input about presence of a suspect, who had allegedly stolen a Tata Mobile vehicle went to Khour to further investigate the issue. "As soon as the police party reached there the Inhabitants resorted to stone pelting injuring to two cops, constable Anwar Hussain and head constable Pawan Kumar. Inhabitants alleged that they resorted to stone pelting after some police personnel set their thatched hutments on fire. They alleged that policemen were responsible for the rioting in the area. They demanded action against erring police personnel. Meanwhile, a senior police officer when contacted refuted the allegations about policemen setting hutments ablaze stating that police team was dispatched to Khour to recover the stolen vehicle. |
