| GBDY protests against JDA’s demolition drive | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, May 15: Members of J&K Gujjar Bakkerwsl Desh Youth (GBDY) Body today protested against Forest Department and Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for consequent demolition of Gujjar houses and demanded to take action against high profile people and bureaucrats having thousand Kanals of illegal land.
President JKGBDY, Ch Nazakat Khatana who led the protestors who demonstrated outside Press Club Jammu against Forest Department and JDA for demolition of houses of innocent Gujjars alleged that the concerned officials acted to appease some vested elements.
Khatana said that the demolition of hutments of some nomads by the JDA & Forest Department from last couple of days right violation and inhuman. “Number of houses were demolished in the areas of Khanpur Nagrota and Roop Nagar Jammu on May 13, in an joint drive launched by JDA and Forest Department,” he added. “It is a matter of concern that this demolition is only meant to give benefit to these high profile persons having huge spread of land illegally, he added.
He also said if the JDA’s drive would stop we will make rally from Sidhra Bridge to Nagrota on May 18.
Among others addressed the protestors included Ch Roshan Din, Sardar Mohammad, Ch Akbar, Ch Saif All, Ch Ashfaq and Ch Ab Razaq. |
