Parliamentary panels on petitions, CA&PD to visit J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 15: Parliamentary panels on petitions and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution are visiting Jammu and Kashmir to review functioning of public distribution system, storage capacity of Godowns, distribution of LPG and other Petroleum Products and increase of LPG distribution outlets in various districts. An official spokesperson said the members of these committees will visit Leh in Ladakh region and Srinagar in the Kashmir valley and hold talks with senior officers. The state government has already announced to issue ration to consumers as per 2011 census in the state. Meanwhile, state Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, yesterday reviewed the preparations with regard to the visit of Parliamentary Committees to the State.Parliamentary delegations comprising Committee on Petitions and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution are scheduled to visit Srinagar and Leh respectively. The Minister sought details on arrangements made regarding accommodation, security, transportation and other related facilities for the visit of the Parliamentarians. He directed the officers concerned to ensure that their stay is made comfortable both at Srinagar and Leh. With regard to difficult climatic conditions in Leh, the Minister asked the officers concerned to ensure that the delegates visiting the region are properly acclimatized to the local climate and directed for ensuring availability of all necessary healthcare facilities for the visiting Parliamentarians. During the meeting, the Minister was also informed regarding various matters to be reviewed by the Committees, like public distribution system, storage capacity of Godowns, distribution of LPG and other Petroleum Products and increase of LPG distribution outlets in various districts. Mr Bukhari also discussed issues pertaining to food safety and adulteration to be taken up with the Committees. He said that the Department should come up with a foolproof mechanism to check adulteration and sought details on the steps taken to check spurious and substandard drugs. He also asked the concerned officers to submit a report on the same to the Law Department for legal opinion on the same. |
