Mahajan community initiates census in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 15: For the first time in J&K, Mahajan community has started census to establish the total population of the community residing here. This census exercise is being conducted by Akhil Bhartiya Shiromani Mahajan Sabha. On Friday the exercise was formally launched by Tej Ram Gupta chief patron of the Sabha by filling up the form in a function here. Addressing the gathering Gupta said, “The aim of the census is establish the exact population of Mahajan’s community in J&K. Also it will establish the social and economic status of the community members”. “After the exercise, we will be able to identify the poor and underprivileged members of the community. The Sabha will then provide financial and other help to the less fortunate members of the community”, said Gupta. Mahesh Gupta president of J&K zone said, “For the first time any such census has been initiated at the community level. We intend to complete the census within six months. Officer bearers of the Sabha will visit nook and the corner of the state to enroll community members. Moreover community members can also fill up the forms in Sabha offices in the state”. Kailash Langer, Ram Langer, Surinder Gupta, Subash Jandial and Rajesh Gupta among others senior members of the orgnisation were present on the occasion. |
