POONCH, May 15 : Surankote and Harni zone boys won inaugural volleyball ties in under-14 and under-17 categories respectively in the inter-zone competitions of district Pooch, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at Sports Stadium, here today.
In under-14 category, Surankote zone defeated Nangali zone in straight sets of 25-16, 25-14. Later, in under-17 category, Surankote zone lost to Harni zone 0-2 (15-25, 16-25).
Similarly, in under-14 kho-kho event, Surankote zone registered win over Pooch zone. In girls' under-14 kho-kho, Surankote zone won the opening tie played against Mankote zone. The preliminary round match in kabaddi under-14 boys won by Mankote zone 21-11.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Principal of Boys Higher Secondary School, Poonch, Kirath Singh in the presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Pooch, Mohd Ayaz Khan. |
