JMC conducts special drive against illegal encroachers

Jammu, Feb 21: As per instructions issued by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Ramesh Kumar, Jammu Municipal Corporation today conducted a special drive against illegal hoardings, rehries/pharies and encroachers causing traffic congestion and obstructing free movement of pedestrians on footpaths. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Secretary, JMC Sunaina Sharma and Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Vinakshi Koul accompanied by the teams constituted for removing illegal hoardings along with flying squad of JMC. The drive was conducted in the areas viz Sainik Colony, Canal Head to Jewel, Below Gumat, Gumat Chowk, Indira Chowk, Shalamar Road, Secretariat Road, Brigadier Ranjinder Singh Chowk, Mahespura, Kachi Chawni, Exchange Road etc. During the drive the team removed 6 trucks of illegal hoardings, rehries/pharies and also removed encroachments on the footpaths and pavements. Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to the owners of illegal advertisers to desist from installing hoardings without permission and also appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their establishments to avoid penal action against them and vendors to ply their rehries only in the rehri zones established by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
