Centre may grant citizenship rights to their families | Rehabilitating PoK returned terrorists | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 21: The Union Home Ministry is seriously considering the proposal moved by the interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma to give citizenship rights to the families of the terrorists who have returned from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Sources told Early Times the Interlocutor moved the proposal after holding consultations with the state government, which has been pushing the case of such families for quite a long time. "The proposal is in the final stage. There are some reservations in some quarters about it but we are quite sure of getting it approved," said a senior official "The families along with the terrorists were promised safe passage on their return from Pakistan. But the Pak didn't allow them to return legally and they were forced to take illegal routes especially from Nepal. We have to honour the commitments made to them," the official added. The sources said that proposal to give citizenship rights to the families of the terrorists was put forth by a close aide of the Chief Minister. "He discussed the proposal threadbare with Sharma and convinced him to take it up with the Ministry of Home Affairs," they added. |
