| Mandi-Phagla CRF road plagued by scam | | 44 years on, earth cutting awaits completion | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Feb 21: The construction of Mandi-Phagla road which connects Mandi with Mughal road via Bafliaz here is plagued by a multi-crore scam and CRF is silent spectator. Sources informed Early Times that the said road is under the supervision of PWD since long. The construction work of Rs. 42 crore for 52kilometers of the road has allotted to a blue eyed contractor before ten years which is still waiting for complete earth cutting, locals informed. Locals said the Public Works Department (PWD) has given a free hand to the said "influential" contractor allegedly due to some underhand deal with him. "PWD engineers are not checking the works, locals said. A famous local social workers and chairman JK Insaaf Movement Javid Reshi informed that "the construction of said road was started before 44 years means very after the independence of Bangladesh i,e in 1972 which is shamefully waiting for completion due negligence of successive governments. What was the function of releasing 42 crore rupees when department hasn't care of its investmemt? Reshi questioned. He has demanded Vigilance inquiry of the funds released for the said road since 1972. |
