| Departmental store gutted in fire | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: A departmental store situated at Talab Tillo today morning gutted in a major fire reducing all the goods kept in the store into ashes.
Quoting complainant police sources said that Tej Krishan Gupta owner of AG traders said that the store situated in Camp Chowk, Talab Tillo caught fire and soon completely gutted owing to due to the paper packaging of consumable items and other items. Though the locals and others rushed to control the fire but it was too late, sources said.
Police sources said that message was received at 9:55 am in the fire station and with in no time one fire tender from Canal Road reached the spot followed by two more from Gandhi Nagar and City.
The fire which was allegedly erupted due to short circuit later engulfed in the both the floors of the store.
"It took almost five hours to douse the fire and three fire tenders were pressed into service", said police sources adding that as per complainant the fire has incurred a loss of Rs around 4 lakh.
Local police getting information of fire in a store also reached the spot and taken cognizance of incident. |
