| Females don't work in Poonch but get 15% of funds | | MGNREGA scams | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Apr 12: From border district Poonch it has come in the notice that Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has released 15-18% women's accounts under Mahatma Gandhi National Rozgar Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) whereas no one of the Poonch women has been found working.
According to the sources of RDD, the panchayat secretaries, GRSs have submitted invoices to concerned BDO offices and ACDs in which it is openly mentioned that more than fifty percent women are working as labour in MGNREGA works.
Locals have rubbished the claims saying no one in this district has seen any lady engaged in labour works.
Locals including Wali Mohd Sheikh, Iqbal Khanday, Abdul Jabar and many others have demanded vigilance inquiry into the matter. |
