Students of GWC Gandhi Nagar visit Krishi Bhawan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 18: A group of about 50 students of Government College for Woman Gandhi Nagar Jammu led by Prof Anjali Dhar and Prof Manpreet Kour visited Krishi Bhawan complex Talab Tillo, Jammu today for awareness regarding different activities being undertaken by the Department of Agriculture for the welfare of farming community and entrepreneurship deployment in agriculture. Hari Krishan Razdan, Director Agriculture, Jammu Chaired the awareness session which was organized by the Joint Directorate of Agriculture (Extension), Jammu. Director Agriculture stressed that youth should come forward to learn and adopt Scientific Agricultural Skills for efficient use of resources and timeliness of cultural operations to get sustainably higher yield and income as more than 70% population being dependent on this primary sector. He made it clear that more emphasis is required on the diversification of farming with focus on quality production through promotion of standard production practices, area specific organic farming with market led and cluster based approach. More opportunities for employment generation are being created through expansion of vegetable cultivation, apiculture and mushroom growing on scientific lines. R. L. Bhagat, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Jammu presented the overall view of the different programmes, activities and schemes to adopt latest technologies in farming to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer's income. |
