Renewable energy programmes a mere hoax | JAKEDA's locked gate mocks at visitors | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency seems to have consumed all the energy and have locked the office at Jammu leaving the energy seekers high and dry. Operating from a private rented building, the office office of Chief Executive Officer Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency at Rehari was found locked today. The visitors had toreturn disappointed, reports said. "No information notice about the closure of office was displayed on the office gate leaving the people guessing. The visitors were informed that the office might have been locked in view of the darbaar move. However, the official date for closing of government offices is April 27. The people questioned the performance of the department saying it has been poor from the very beginning. Even the Former Finance Minster, Dr Haseeb Drabu had also questioned its working which can be evaluated from his budget speech given this year in which he said that JAKEDA, the State Nodal Agency mandated with development of small hydel (upto 10 MW), Solar, Wind and other renewable projects is not oriented on commercial lines. It can also not raise debt without which the development of projects is impossible, he said. Further, Dr Drabu had proposed setting up of a Jammu and Kashmir Renewal Energy Corporation which will catalyze the development of renewable energy resources. The present environment in the country is highly conducive for development of renewable energy resources and there are various kinds of subsidies/ incentives/ assistance available under Central Sector for the renewable sources. |
