Congress only secular, unifying force in state: Mir
4/22/2018 10:26:52 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 22: Cautioning the people against designs of communal divisive forces and making fervent appeal to maintain communal harmony at all costs, the President JKPCC G.A. Mir today said that Congress is the only secular and unifying force in the state, which has always strengthened the secularism and it will continue to safeguard the secular fabric of the Country and state, saying that Congress Party will never compromise with the communal forces in the State and Country for the sake of power.
PCC Chief was speaking in an impressive Congress Rally at Kote Maira (Khour). The Rally was organized by former Dy. Chief Minister Tara Chand. Those who also addressed the rally included CLP Leader Nawang Rigzin Jora, PCC Co-treasurer Rajnish Sharma, General Secretary S.S. Chani, Former Minister Ch. Gharu Ram, Vinod Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, and others.
Addressing the gathering G.A. Mir said that Congress has never compromised and will not compromise for the sake of power with any communal or divisive forces in the State. History is testimony to the fact that from time to time certain secular forces compromised with the communal and divisive forces for the sake of power.
Cautioning the people against those opportunist political forces who exploit the religious and regional emotions of the people for the sake of vested political interests and do not hesitate to share power with ideologically opposite forces, Mir said that Congress has always played the role of unifying force in this sensitive state, having regional, religious and linguistic and cultural diversities and at times has suffered electoral losses also because of the capabilities of rival parties to exploit different kinds of emotions of the people, however Mir said that the paramount duty and concern of the Congress Party is to keep the age old traditions of harmony, brotherhood and defeat the forces of hatred and division, in any form.
Besides the deteriorating situation in the State, Mir said that BJP- PDP is responsible for creating social and political uncertainty as the approach of the both coalition partners is totally contradictory on all sensitive issues, but despite that they want to remain cling to power at the cost of overall interests and wishes of the people of state. He said that the coalition partners are deliberately creating hurdles in the peace and development of the State by doing politics on sensitive issues, as a result, the situation in the State especially continues to deteriorate, which is a matter of great concern.
PCC President has referred numerous achievements of previous coalition Govt. of the state and said that tremendous development took place, which had benefited each and every section of society, throughout the State and these developmental activities are visible even today but the present regime in the Centre and State is busy to divert the attention of the people to mislead the masses from reality.
Mir also blamed the PDP for utterly failing to create a peaceful atmosphere in the state especially in valley and said the contradiction in the approach of PDP BJP and severe differences on certain sensitive issues was responsible for the deteriorating situation, as a result, the people in all the three regions have suffered hugely.
Highlighting the problems of border area people Tara Chand said that due to continued firing across the border the residents face tremendous hardships on account of every sphere of life. He also demanded special recruitment in Army and other central paramilitary forces for the border area of people.
He hit out at the BJP for misleading people on every count just to share power with PDP, as that, despite the contradiction in the approach of PDP BJP, the coalition partners are sharing power by not caring about urges and aspirations of the people.
Addressing he gathering CLP Leader Nawang Rigzin Jora said that Congress Party will defeat the designs of anti peace forces vitiating atmosphere to serve their vested interests. He said Congress Party will remain committed to defeat the designs of communal forces and committed to safeguard the age old tradition of unity, diversity and communal harmony in the State, he added and said Congress Party is capable enough to defeat the communal and fascist forces creating wedge between the communities to serve their vested interests.
