2 drug peddlers held with 26 grams Heroin | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 27: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', a special drive against drugs launched by Jammu Police, success was achieved when Gandhi Nagar police and Peer Mitha police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 26 grams of heroin like substance from their possession in two separate incidents at different places. Police spokesman said that today police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established a naka near Mini Market Green Belt Gandhi Nagar for checking/ frisking of vehicles. "During checking/ frisking of vehicles one Scooty bearing Registration number JK02135-2805 was also stopped for checking and during questioning the Scooterist disclosed his name as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky of Bhour Camp Ward No. 1 Jammu and on personnel search, from his right pocket 20 grams (approx.) of heroin like substance was recovered along with one weighing machine from his other pocket", said spokesman. Spokesman further said that during further checking number of mobile phones and wrist watches were recovered from a bag hidden in the dicky of his Scooty. On this a case under FIR No. 96/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started. It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested accused is a drug supplier who is indulged in the menace of drug distribution (especially Heroin) in Jammu area and even sells this substance to the young generation in lieu of mobile phones and wrist watches. The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Jaipaul Sharma in-charge police post Nehru Market, SI Sandeep Chauhan in-charge police post Digiana, SI Kali Charan and ASI Shesh Pal of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta. Meanwhile Gujjar Nagar Police by apprehended one person alongwith 6 grams heroin. Police spokesman said that Police Party of police post Gujjar Nagar during routine naka checking at Gujjar Nagar signalled one pedestrian to stop for Police check. "On seeing the Police party he tried to flee away from the spot, but alert Police apprehended him and during search of his belongings, Police party recovered 6 grams heroin like substance form his possession", said spokesman. In this regard a case under FIR No. 27/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Peer Mitha and further investigation of the case is going on. The arrest and recovery was made by team headed by SHO Peer Mitha, Sheema Nabi, IPS (Prob) assisted by in-charge police post Gujjar Nagar SI Tariq Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO City North Varun Jandial and SP City North, Dr. Vinod Kumar. |
