Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Apr 27: Sunerbani is again in news for bad reasons. This time the teachers of Govt School have been accused of becoming picnickers at the cost of the students' education.
The Lower Hathal zone of Sunderbani is a living example these days where more than 100 schools are operating, mostly the government run schools, but the teachers deployed in the schools drawn from various areas, some from Jammu also are taking the job non-seriously, thus impacting the education, graph of which is falling with each passing day.
As per the prevailing scenario in the schools, the teachers reach the institutions daily 1-2 hours late and make their exit before the schedule close , nearly 1- 1½ hour earlier.
The people of the area lament that these teachers just come to the schools on the picnic sprees and after enjoying the buffet lunches with co-teachers, remain in the school over chatting various political issues and then take leave nearly two hours earlier.
The incharge Zone Education Officer, who is a principal of one of the Higher Secondary school Lower Hathal ,is not a competent man who can take any action against such erring teachers and hence has let the reign loose for all.
The public and parents of the wards have quite often lodged complaint to the Education Department to conduct surprise visits at the schools and take the necessary actions. While the school timings are from 9 a.m. to 3.pm. daily, but the staff is present only for 2-2 and half house which is great injustice done to the students.
"Besides , in these hours even , no staff or classes are conducted in this time even," said a parent.
A senior Education Department official on the condition of the anonymity said that whenever on the earlier occasions , whenever the department tried to conduct a raid on any particular school, telephone from different influential quarters come to stop the raid saying that particular school principal or teacher is related to some influential leader etc, etc.
While the parents of the students allege that under such conditions when the results of their wards in these schools are very low and meagre and only few students make to next classes on their own, they have requested the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to take the cognisance of the matter and relieve the students and parents of their pains and sufferings.
"We want that DC Rajouri should constitute a team and conduct raids on these schools from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. or from 2.p.m to 3.p.m to get the actual position of the education system being run in these schools ," said one of the parent of the student studding in a government middle school , Lower Hathal.
