Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 27: Directorate of the Sainik Welfare Department (DSWD) inaugurated new office complex and the Sainik Aaramgah, built at a cost of Rs 2.6 Cr. According to press release, the prestigious complex has been named after the highest decorated warrior of Indian Army Nb Subedar Chuni Lal, AC, VrC, SM of the JAK LI regiment for his repeated acts of undaunted courage and conspicuous gallantry in different operations and Capt Sunder Singh AC of JAK Rifles, remembered for his great courage during battle of Husainiwala fought in 1956 and Col C Rinchen, the only brave warrior in J&K State awarded MVC twice during 1948 and 1965 ans Sena Medal during 1962 operation. Among the honoured were families of our brave soldiers i.e, Nb Sub Chuni Lal, Capt Sunder Singh and Col C Rinchen. Besides that, financial assistance was provided to nine Non pensioner widows (Veer Naris). Speaking on the occasion Governor (J&K) NN Vohra said that the care of war wounded and war widows was very important for the morale of our troops. He appreciated the Director Sainik Welfare for the priority of welfare schemes and complemented construction team of PCD for the newly constructed complex. The Director Sainik Welfare Brig Harcharan Singh used the occasion for organising adoption of the Vir Naris and families of martyrs. Vichar Kranti Manch headed by Shri Shreyansh Jain adopted 11 families of martyrs. Ram Raj Narain Sevashram Trust adopted four families. This trust is headed by Shri Devinder Singh, who is in touch with 750 Shaheed families all over the country. Prominent among those who attended were former Minister RS Chib, Col Ravinder Singh Vir Chakra, Col Kulbir Singh Jamwal, VSM and Brig RS Lageh, Ex Director of Sainik Welfare, Col Karan Singh, Lt Col KS Samyal, Capt Anil Gour and Lt Col DS Salaria. |
