Rajouri town sans CSCs, admin to construct 12 complexes | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 29: The Rajouri town lacks toilet facilities thus subjecting people especially women who visit the town for various purposes to inconvenience. Few years ago, toilet complexes were constructed at Gujjar Mandi chowk and old bus stand but lack of proper maintenance has rendered them almost defunct. The matter was several times raised during interactions with the district administration by the prominent persons several times in the past but without results. Taking the matter seriously now the present district administration has decided to come up with community sanitary complexes at prime locations in the old and new Rajouri town and in its vicinity. District Administration, has approved a plan for the construction of 12 CSCs within municipal limits of Rajouri town at a cost of Rs 1.62 Cr. In addition, three plants for solid-liquid waste management will also be constructed in sub-urban panchayats. "Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DDC in a meeting of officers has approved 12 such complexes to be constructed at a cost of Rs 13.50 Lakh each for ease of public at various locations. He directed the department for time-bound construction and making the units available for use at an earliest" said Mohd Shafait, District Information Officer (DIO). CSCs will be constructed at district Hospital premises, Jawahar Nagar, district Court complex, old town area, west end of Salani bridge, alternate bridge circular road, public park at Bhella, new parking for Thanamandi-Darhal area, Kheora, Dhanidhar and Horticulture Mandi (Market) near Alpha gate. Revenue department has earmarked the land for construction of CSCs in Rajouri town which will be executed through Municipal Committee and will be monitored by ADDC. It was decided to engage consultants for establishment of three Solid-Liquid Waste Management projects in panchayats located in vicinity of Rajouri town area for catering to the sub-urban population and enabling a long-term planning for waste management and disposal. More than 200 CSCs have also been approved for various rural areas to be taken up during current year. |
