Jammu, Apr 29: S.S Sodhi, Chairman, J&K Intellectual Civil Society, New Delhi, addressing gathering of JKICS and students of DPS, said that it is important to teach children how to defend themselves when they are confronted with harmful situations without having to fight. He expressed the need of introducing self defense practices in a structured way in all schools of J& K and Leh as also promoted by the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi in all its affiliated Schools in India and abroad. Sodhi urged teachers and parents to encourage children to participate in marshal arts, swimming, yoga, rope climbing and other sports and adventure activities to build their strength and stamina. He said that in today's age students are more hooked onto the electronic devices and earphones and are seldom aware of their environment, which makes them an easy target for drugs, alcohol or unwanted things in the society. Sodhi appreciated the efforts of the army, and police and the role of J&K government in spreading awareness on self defence and empowering girl child. |
