KP migrants Relief Holders, Over Aged Youth demand increase in cash assistance | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 14: Condemning the successive state and central governments for their neglect for the last 28 years, the Kashmiri Migrants Relief Holders and Over Aged Youth said that be it the issues of their survival, economic rehabilitation or health insurance cover the governments remained deaf and dumb towards them. While addressing the media persons, members of the forum said that for the last 28 years false promises have been given by the governments at state as well as centre regarding our return and rehabilitation with dignity and honor but it seems like an unrealistic distant dream. This unresponsive and callous attitude of the successive governments both at state and centre level has brought the community and youth in particular at cross roads. For last 28 years a large section of community youth has turned over aged because of no policy of the government for their settlement and even as of date nothing has been planned for the over aged youth, who are left at the mercy of God. Approx 19118 families as of date are being provided a meager daily survival support of Rs 83 per soul which by no means is even sufficient to carry out basic survival needs in present day scenario, they said. Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over aged youth demanded economic empowerment by way of self employment schemes/packages or projects for unemployed youth and enhancement in cash assistance to Rs 300 per day per soul. |
