No probe into 'illegal' appointments of politicians' kin | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 14: While a probe has been initiated into the selection of son of a senior PDP leader by the state's Khadi Village and Industries Board (KVIB), the government seems not interesting to hold enquiry into selection of various politicians relatives in various departments. The government has appointed Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department RK Goyal as Chairman of the committee to probe into selections in KVIB while Principal Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department Pawan Kotwal and Secretary to the Government, School Education Department Farooq Ahmad Shah were appointed as committee members. The government had ordered the probe following severe criticism over the appointment of Aroot Madni (37), son of ruling PDP vice-president Sartaj Madni, as an executive officer in the board. The board had issued an advertisement against vacancies on October 8, 2016. Opposition National Conference had launched a scathing attack on the PDP over alleged nepotism and malpractice in the selection of candidates. The High Level Inquiry Committee has been tasked to enquire into the complaints relating to the alleged unfair selection made by the KVIB against various posts. There are allegations that PDP-BJP has made "backdoor appointment" of their relatives and aides in various departments. "Daughter of PDP MLA from south Kashmir has been appointed in Social Welafre Department. Another PDP leader's daughter has also been appointed in the same department. Daughter in law of a senior PDP leader has been appointed in JK Bank. A BJP leader's daughter has been appointed as dentist in NHM," sources said. There are also allegations that several politicians' relatives have been illegally appointed in various departments. Sources said that there are also allegations that illegal appointments have been made in Wakf Board and JK Sports Council. "A probe should also be held into these appointments to bring forth the truth behind allegations of illegal backdoor appointments," sources said. |
