Sham Lal resigns as senior vice president of JKPCC | Miffed over mishandling of Jammu’s core issues | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 21:
In a major political development which would have far reaching consequences among the political set up of the state in general and the Congress in particular, the senior Congress leader and former minister Sham Lal Sharma has resigned from the post of senior vice president of the party’s state unit over the alleged mishandling of the core issues affecting Jammu region.
Reliable sources within the Congress told Early Times that Sham Lal Sharma is apparently miffed over Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee’s (JKPCC) stand on the core issues concerning Jammu region.
“Sham Lal Sharma gave up the responsibility of the senior vice president of JKPCC because he was annoyed with the manner in which the basic issues related to Jammu province are getting constantly ignored by the state unit of the party,” said sources.
Sources further said that Sharma, known as firebrand Congress leader, was feeling suffocated in the party’s organizational arrangement adding that he is always in the forefront to raise the issues pertaining to Jammu region but of late the party has shown little interest and enthusiasm in doing so which prompted him to take such extreme step of quitting the post of senior vice president.
Sources said that Sham Lal Sharma has no other choice but to take the initiative to get justice for Jammuites when most of the issues affecting Jammu province are being overlooked by those at the helm of affairs in the party’s state unit.
