EWS colony inhabitants rue water scarcity | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 24: Inhabitants of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) colony Muthi have rued the lackadaisical approach of Public Health Engineering (PHE)Department for poor and delayed water supply to the colony for the last quite some time which has added woes to their sufferings in the scorching heat of summer. The residents of the colony have alleged that the concerned PHE employees have been indulged in mal practices by providing illegal water connections from the main supply to some influential residents of Buta Nagar area (in some cases more than one connections) in lieu of monetary benefits which has reduced the water supply to the colony besides low pressure ,as heavy electric gadgets have been used by them to lift the water from these illegal connections leaving the EWS colony residents high and dry. An octogenarian of the colony who wished not to be named while talking to this reporter said that a number of times the matter was brought into the notice of higher ups of the department, yet no action was taken against the concerned PHE officials till date.We once again urge them to restore proper water supply to the colony and remove the bottlenecks due to which the colony residents have been put to hardships. |
