5/26/2018 11:25:58 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, May 26: Almost every Kashturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel operating in Rajouri district lack basic facilities, good quality of food, good academic atmosphere, adequate infrastructure, proper looking after of the poor girls etc.
Most of the time teachers remain on unauthorised leave which has affected the academic standard of the students.
Even the breakfast, lunch and dinner is not being provided to the poor girl as per roaster and it was also established that the tea is being served without milk in order to plunder ration, milk etc.
One such KGBV is situated at Panghai (Shahdra) in Thanamandi tehsil in Rajouri district. The condition of this hostel is deplorable.
For 37 girl students enrolled no fresh water supply is available in the hostel. According to reports (from the reliable sources) toilet block is non-functional due to adequate water and girls are forced for defection in the open.
Hygienic condition of the rooms as well as in the kitchen found below average and student are being provided Rice and Potato's in the lunch and dinner instead as per roaster.
"Even the tea is being served to the girl students without milk and their academic standard was also not satisfactory" said a local resident.
On the complaints about mismanagement in the hostel, principal Girls HSS, Plangar deputed one teacher namely Mohd Jamil for surprise inspection of the hostel recently.
In his report , Mohd Jamil found only 17 girls present in the hostel out of 37 enrolled and out of 6 teachers was on maternity leave and another had gone to Thanamndi to collect books for the girls.
Mohd Jamil in his report has also pointed out about mismanagement, dry toilet/ bath room blocks, unhygienic condition in the hostel, half cooked rice/ meal / stale breads , truancy of staff/ their late arrival etc.
On the report of Mohd Jamil, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Thanamandi has sought personnel explanation from the in-charge teacher of the hostel for further submission to higher authorities.
"The in-charge teacher who is also responsible for the ration contacted on phone for her explanation today but was advised to visit personnel with details" said Mohd Qayoom Nabi, in-charge ZEO, Thanamndi.
