We were forced to see while Yaqoob's throat was being silt: Family members | Shutdown in Hajin against gruesome killings of civilians | | S Tahir-ul Haq
Early Times Report
BANDIPORA, May 26: A complete shutdown was observed today in Hajin town against the killing of a man. According to sources people including women and children took to streets and protested against the gruesome killings of civilians in Hajin over some time. At around 12: 00 am four to five masked men had barged into the house of Mohammad Yaqoob and slit his throat in front of his wife and minor son at his home at Prang village of Hajin on Thursday night, said sources. The wife of slain Yaqoob, Safeena begum said that two of the gunmen got hold of Yaqoob and started slitting his throat with knives, without saying a word to him. Safeena added that masked men caught hold her and her minor son and forced them to see while Yaqoob's throat was being slit. An Audio message reportedly of LeT is being circulated from yesterday evening, in which, the militants have denied the killing of Yaqoob and Hilal Ahmad Parray who was abducted on May 16, from home at Parray Mohalla Hajin. Meanwhile fear has gripped the entire Hajin and Shahgund villages as series of killings have taken place from past few months. Locals believe that if the situation remains so, people would be compelled to migrate from the area, there is nothing more precious than lives, and it is better to live in tin sheds instead of having these concrete buildings, but in a dignified and peaceful manner. Sources said that shops and schools were shut in the village to protest killing while youth burned tires on roads to block traffic movement on the roads. |
