Jammu, May 26: The Hindu Ekta Manch has decided to call off the two-month long fast unto death to press for CBI probe into the Rassana rape and murder case. The women from Rassana village of Kathua sat on fast unto death on March 31. The Manch's general secretary Kant Kumar told Early Times that they are calling off the fast unto death on Sunday, because of the arrogance of state government. Kumar said now when the case is in the court, the Manch will fight it there. A petition has already been filed in the Supreme Court for CBI probe into the case and its hearing is on July 1. On Saturday, Madhu, daughter of Sanji Ram, one of the accused in the case, called on Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister for PMO, in sub-district magistrate office Hiranagar. Sources said Dr Singh asked Madhu to end the fast unto death. Madhu did not talk to media. |
